Many of our clients’ largest assets sit within their company sponsored retirement plan. These plans, whether they be a 401(k), 403(b) or a Simple/SEP IRA, often offer a matching component. For example your employer could match the first 3% of salary that an employee contributes into the plan (pre-tax). Therefore if you put in $3.00 and the company matches that $3.00, you have a total of $6.00, or a 100% increase in the contribution! As financial planners, there are not too many investments out there that can produce this type of return. Outside of having an emergency fund and eliminating credit card debt, we highly recommend that our clients take advantage of company sponsored retirement plans and at minimum, attempt to contribute at least up to the match.
This March, we will be highlighting the importance of Retirement Planning and the resources our existing clients and friends have access to through our firm. In addition, all of our articles, blog posts, and events will be centered on this very important topic. If you, or someone you know, have not sat down recently to discuss a long term retirement plan, we encourage you to give the office a call to get you back on track today!
401(k) Grab ‘N’ Go
Stop by Colony Grill in downtown Fairfield on March 29th for our 401(k) Grab ‘N’ Go event. Bring copies of your retirement plan statements and grab a pizza to go at this informal event (on us!)
The firm will then review these documents, your investment choices, fees, and overall asset allocation to see if you are on track. After we review, we will reach back out with any suggestions that we may have. We will be at Colony from 5:00pm to 7:00pm so feel free to stop by and drop of your documents or come with questions if you are just looking for a place to start your retirement planning.
There is a New Commissioner in Town…
Giving back to the community that we have operated in for over 40 years is a critical component to our overall business at Rocco & Associates. In addition to our quarterly team volunteer events, each team member is also encouraged to remain active individually within our community.
Eric has long been an avid outdoors enthusiast and much of that enthusiasm is his passion for everything aquatic (boating, fishing, sailing etc.). Last month he further committed to that passion and was elected to the Fairfield Shellfish Commission. The goal of the commission is to protect the shellfish habitat and help increase shellfishing opportunities off our picturesque coastline. In total, the commission oversees over 1,000 acres of municipal beds from Ash Creek to Sasco Creek. If you want to learn more about this tremendous local resource or how you too can get involved and volunteer, give Eric a call or email him at [email protected]
