Tax Time

The coming of the spring signals to the team here at Rocco & Associates that the tax deadline of April 15, 2015 is fast approaching.  This is a significant date not only for wealth managers, but also equally important for families and individuals.  April 15 is the deadline for tax forms to be filed as well as the deadline to file an extension.  It is important to note that individuals cannot make contributions to their respective qualified retirement plans after April 15, even if you have chosen to file an extension. This is also a great time to review your financial plan since you will be collecting and organizing all of your documents to help in preparing your taxes.  If something has changed, be sure to contact our office so we can make any adjustments to your accounts and overall financial plan and goals. If this is the year you have decided to hire an accountant, please do not hesitate to call the office for a referral.  Over the years we have worked closely and built strong relationships with trusted professionals in the accounting profession.

This information is not intended to be tax advice. We suggest that you discuss your specific tax issues with a qualified tax advisor.

Always Learning
We are constantly looking to improve the level of service that we provide to our clients. This is accomplished in many different ways, one of which is how we partner and work with our outside service providers. As all of you are aware, we joined the Strategic Wealth Advisors Group in October to assist us in improving your experiences. This month they hosted their 2015 Kick Off Event in sunny California where they invited staff from around the United States to learn about ways to improve overall client satisfaction.  Liz represented the firm at this event and it was also a great reason for her to escape from all of the snow! In addition to being able to place real faces with names, Liz was able to hear first-hand about the new financial planning software that became available as well as updates on compliance and ways to streamline account openings.
Are You Social?
Did you know that Rocco & Associates is active on a daily basis on our social media accounts including LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter? With the addition of two interns to our team this past semester, we have really been able to increase the level and quality of the content across these popular social media sites. We continue to try and push out a nice mix of both financial and non-financial content.  Like most everything we do here, we are always looking to improve.  If there are certain topics that you would like to see more of, we would welcome any and all feedback. If you have a moment, please email what you enjoy about our social media posts, how we may be able to improve them and any specific content that you would like to see more of.

Two years ago we decided to partner and help support and increase awareness for the Connecticut Food Bank located right here in Fairfield.  Last year they distributed 17 million pounds of food through over 600 soup kitchens, shelters and food pantries. The office specifically volunteers periodically to help out with the kids backpack lunch program that assists students who are at risk of hunger on the weekends when they do not have access to school meals. To help the organization with awareness, we have challenged two local firms that we work with to a friendly competition to see whose team can pack the most lunches.  This is sure to be a great event for a great charity with children ultimately benefiting from our involvement. We will be sure to let you know how it goes next month. Wish our team good luck! If you or anyone you know would be interested in volunteering at the organization in the future, please email and he can give you all the details.
