Understanding Long Term Care Insurance

One of the most overlooked aspects of a comprehensive financial strategy is long-term care. Many people don’t realize that retirement savings can be drained in a few short years to cover the high costs of assisted living and nursing homes; sometimes leaving your next generation with a considerable added expense. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human services 70% of people who reach the age of 65 will require some form of long-term care in the future.[1] We cannot stress enough how important long-term care is to your financial strategy. Even if long-term care insurance is not right for you, it is still important to have a plan in place for unexpected health related income needs in the future. We encourage you to give us call so we can schedule a time to discuss long-term care in more depth, having a plan is never a bad thing!

Market Volatility & the Media

With the recent market volatility, if you happen to turn on some of the major media stations, you would think at times that the sky is falling.  It is unfortunate, but this dramatic content can drive ratings and draw in viewers.  Here at Rocco & Associates, we work with you to put a long term financial plan in place that seeks to meet your goals and objectives. Listening to dire predictions is what often causes investors to make irrational decisions and often pull out of the market at exactly the wrong time. Out of the past 40 years the stock market has been up 32 of those years, so at Rocco & Associates we believe that it is time in the market, not timing it that counts. Having been in business for over 40 years, we have seen this type of volatility before and we will see it again. Stay focused on your long term goals, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to review them.

Got Paper?

As a firm, we continue to do our part in helping the environment by working towards a “greener” office. Over the past year we have made strides in shifting our meeting notes and other types of office communications to a web based platform and when possible, encourage communications and applications with clients to be signed and facilitated electronically.   Many of our clients also want to do their part and with the help of LPL Financial, our broker dealer, you can.  As a reminder, statements, trade confirmations and tax documents can all be suppressed and you can opt to receive all of these documents electronically. In fact, if you have access to your accounts using Account View, you can accomplish these suppressions with just a few clicks of the mouse.  Doing so will increase the amount of leaves on your own personalized “Go Green Meter.”  Should you have any questions or are not set up on Account View, please don’t hesitate to call the office for assistance. Working together we can all make a difference!
